Our Lady of Zeitoun
Le Caire (Zeitoun), Egypt.
In Zeitoun, a church dedicated to the Blessed Virgin commemorates the passage of the Holy Family on their journey to Egypt.
This Orthodox Coptic church is in the suburbs of Cairo. Across the street from the church stands the bus station of the Department of Public Transportation. On April 2, 1968, the mechanics and drivers who were at the station heard noises and movements in the street. Outside, they noticed the human figure of a woman dressed in white, who seemed to be floating above the central dome of the church, with her hand on the cross topping the dome.
Throughout hundreds of apparitions, the Blessed Virgin was absolutely silent.
During the 14 months that the apparitions reoccurred, thousands of people gathered around the Church of Our Lady of Zeitoun.
